Deloitte Touch-less Experiences at RSA 2022
Since the height of the pandemic, Deloitte wanted to bring new touch-less technology to their convention presence. For the thousands of attendees coming to see their booths, novelty and safety were key.
Utilizing cutting-edge haptic technology from Ultraleap, a player could use their hand to interact with the computer without touching any surface. Additionally, the attendee could act out the motion of pressing buttons or grabbing items and feel haptic sensations on their palms and fingertips in mid-air. This “virtual touch” creates safer in-person interactive spaces, especially at events like conventions and expos.
Using this tech, I designed two interactive experiences for Deloitte for the RSA Conference 2022. In both experiences, the player controlled a virtual hand on screen that could reach for buttons, grab tiles, and make decisions. In “Stacking Game”, I took inspiration from “Stacker”, the popular arcade timing game that uses a single button to drop a tile on a patch that gets smaller and smaller over time. The virtual hand interacts with the on-screen ‘DROP’ button to build the tower of tiles higher and higher, symbolizing the building of security infrastructure. In “Defense Game”, Deloitte wanted to make a tower defense game, placing down towers to slow and stop malicious bugs from damaging the home base. By dragging and dropping these towers onto the play area, we told the story of the process of defending company networks.
